About Staveley
Staveley village is located between Kendal and Windermere and is just off the main route (A591) into the Lake District. It is in an ideal base for visitors to the Lake District as it is only 20 minutes from M6 (Junc 36) although just 10 minutes from Windermere.
The village is an excellent base for some wonderful walks or bike rides into the Kentmere Valley or along to the neighbouring villages of Ings and Crook, a gentle amble through some lovely countryside, whatever the time of year.
Staveley is the ideal choice for the more mature holidaymaker as all amenities in the village are easily accessible although it is equally suitable for guests of all ages as Staveley has so much to offer.
The village has a local SPAR shop, traditional butchers and post office. The Mill Yard hosts a variety of activities and shops including a cookery school, brewery, Wilf’s Café, bike hire and repair shop and organic wine outlet.
Staveley offers two public houses within a short walking distance of the cottage including The Eagle & Child offering award winning food and a selection of real ales served all day and into the evening.
Staveley is one of the few villages in the Lake District which is easily accessible by train and is on the main line between Oxenholme Station (Kendal) and Windermere. The cottage is approximately 10 minutes walk from the station. Staveley also has a regular bus service to take you into the town of Kendal or the central Lake District.
